School Direct

HAVE YOU EVER CONSIDERED A CAREER IN TEACHING?

We are delighted to be part of the School Direct Teacher Training programme. All applicants must apply through UCAS, see details below.

What is School Direct?

It is a great route into a career in the classroom and an excellent way to learn and qualify to become a teacher. The School Direct Programme is a unique, employment-based route into teacher training, available to high-quality graduates with at least three years’ of valuable experience of working or volunteering in schools who will earn a salary whilst they train. Successful completion of a School Direct course will lead to the award of qualified teacher status (QTS)

Why train through School Direct?

As a lead school for School Direct we established links with the University of Chichester to train teachers locally to ensure high quality professionals remain employed within the local area for the benefit of our community and learners.

Who is School Direct looking for?

School Direct (Salaried) is aimed at high quality graduates who have three or more years work experience working or volunteering in schools.

School Direct Training Programme (Unsalaried) is available to high-quality graduates. You may be eligible for a bursary to support you as you train. We strongly recommend you have experience in the primary sector (please contact us). This programme will also include a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).

We are looking for ambitious, inspirational people who are passionate and enthusiastic about the prospect of teaching in a demanding environment and have the ability to work using their own initiative and inspire!

Mrs Sarah Wilson – Previous School Direct Trainee.  School Direct has been a huge learning curve. I have developed so much as a trainee teacher thanks to the combination of experience in the classroom with support from my Mentor and other Outstanding teachers, high quality in-school training and high levels of input and training from the University. It is an extremely demanding route into teaching, but brings with it all the skills, knowledge and experience needed to be an Outstanding teacher.
